Early, in 1946, local resident Tommy Judge and 9 enthusiasts set out to find a suitable site for a bowling green. The location was found, Tommy Judge and his colleagues purchased 2.5 acres of swamp land from Charlie Holloway for the sum of 1200 pounds, agreements were made and the Harbord Bowling Club & Recreation Club was formed.

Aided by voluntary effort from its members who had grown to 125, Tommy Judge commenced to get the greens underway. The old wooden tin shed became the Harbord Bowling Club’s first Clubhouse and in 1950 they commenced play on the greens, what a grand day it was.

Lawn bowls is not just for tournaments. It’s for the time spent with friends, the mateships, the laughs and few well-earned cold beers at the end of the day.

We’re now more than a bowling club; we’re a hub for our local community. A place where friends and family come together for a fun game of bowls, celebrations, Good Food, Good Wine and Good Times!

We’re a PAW-FRIENDLY bowlo and welcome four-legged guests to the club provided they’re on a leash at all times. So why not pop down to the club this weekend and soak up the sunshine in our outdoor beer garden while you sip a cocktail or enjoy a frosty ale.
